Multiplying and Dividing by the Powers of Ten
Decimals/Whole Numbers
1. When dividing by a power of ten, move the decimal point to the left, according to the number of zeroes in the divisor.
EXAMPLE: 100.7 ÷ 10 = 10.07
EXAMPLE: 264.3 ÷ 100 = 2.643
2. When multiplying by a power of ten, move the decimal point to the right according to the number of zeroes in the multiplying factor.
EXAMPLE: 100.7 x 10 = 1,007
EXAMPLE: 264.3 x 100 = 26,430
